Repeated designs, for instance the elongated berry or five petalled flower, were likely intended to allow
the customer to purchase matching sets for the home. It is possible that such items may have been fashioned
by the same designer.
Designers
Both Hermann Gradl and Georges Charles Coudray are known to have designed pieces for
Orivit1.
Theo Blum, Georg Graseggar, Walter Scherf, Vicor Heinrich Seifert, and Johann Christian Kroner
are also known to have been associated with the company2.
Certain Orivit designs, especially those incorporating water plants (see Motif III: Branching Roots) and fish share design elements
with Nymphenburg porcelein known to have been designed by Hermann Gradl.
